Shipping guide: costs, volumetric weight and customs
Understand what drives international shipping costs from a shopping agent: actual and volumetric weight, shipping lines, packaging, customs and delivery times.
What you pay for
International shipping is quoted by the shopping agent platform after your items arrive at its warehouse. The quote depends on the destination, the parcel's weight and size, the shipping line you choose and any extra services such as removing boxes or adding protection.
Actual weight and volumetric weight
Many carriers charge the higher of the actual weight and the volumetric weight. Volumetric weight is usually calculated as length × width × height in centimetres divided by a divisor, often 5,000 or 6,000. Bulky items such as shoe boxes and puffer jackets can cost more than their weight suggests.
Ways to reduce the cost
• Ship several items together in one parcel. • Ask the platform to remove shoe boxes or extra packaging if you do not need them. • Compare shipping lines: faster lines usually cost more. • Check size limits and restricted items before you pay.
Customs and import duties
Import rules, duty thresholds and taxes depend on your country. The receiver is responsible for following local customs rules and paying any duties. Check your country's official customs guidance and the platform's shipping terms before ordering.
Delivery times and tracking
Delivery time depends on the shipping line, the destination and customs processing. Keep the tracking number from the platform and contact the platform if a parcel is delayed or damaged.
Where to confirm the quote
RepLooks does not calculate shipping. Always confirm the final shipping quote, insurance and delivery terms on the platform you buy from.
